What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is an approach that values the sum of the entire person - past and present. Care is focussed on the person in their entirety and not a complaint or problem only.
Osteopathic manipulative treatment uses techniques that mobilize your joints and release restrictions in your fascia, muscles and ligaments. Osteopathic Practitioners use many gentle techniques and are a safe choice for all ages and stages – from newborns to the elderly.
These techniques reduce pain, help with alignment and mobility and decompress blood vessels and nerves. With better circulation comes more efficient healing.
What should I expect from an Osteopathy Treatment?
During your visits Karina will conduct an initial screening interview, a short evaluation and then an initial treatment that focusses on the most primary issues found and the chief complaints brought to their attention by the patient. The treatment may be quite subtle, or involve physical manipulation. You may also be sent home with recommendations for proper maintenance to extend the effect of the treatment on your body. Usually a series of osteopathic sessions is suggested as a treatment plan to address the whole patient with the ultimate goal of optimizing a full expression of their health.
Who can benefit from Osteopathy?
People who suffer from old injuries or concussions, chronic pain, and nagging aches and pains. Often these are people who may not have found relief or have reached a plateau in their recovery with conventional treatments and want to try a different approach.
People who are actively involved in improving their personal health and quality of life. Often these are people who suffer from a condition that affects their day-to-day activities. In many instances these are people who come to manage chronic issues and to prevent future flare-ups.
People who want to dive deeper into their healing journey through a holistic exploration and hand’s on empowering approach. Often these are people who want to address somatic and emotional patterning, regulation of the nervous system and intergenerational or emotional imprints.
Pregnant & postpartum women, newborns and children with varying concerns.
